At the Musée du Colombier, in a small 18th century castle surrounded by a park, the archaeological collections, from Prehistoric days to the Gallo-Roman period, result of excavations carried out in and around Alès (particularly at the Hermitage oppidum), are displayed along with a collection of paintings and drawings from the 16th to the 20th century. Among the outstanding works from the collection of fine arts: the triptych of The Holy Trinity by Jean Bellegambe, works of the Northern Schools, Brueghel the Elder, Mieris, Italian and French Schools, Bassano, Reni, Coypel, Raoux, Vien, Van Loo, Perrot. Beautiful pieces of local furniture and a group of sculptures by Marcel Merignargues complete the presentation.
