Musée Yves Brayer

The Yves Brayer Museum is located in a remarkable Renaissance mansion that belonged to one of the most illustrious families of Provence, the Porcelet, whose origins date back to the 12th century. Its original facade, composed of irregularly mullioned windows, blends perfectly with the “Lantern of the Dead” of the nearby St. Vincent church. In the vaulted room on the ground floor, some interesting frescoes of the 17th represent “the Four Cardinal Virtues” and ‘the Four Seasons”. Extensive restoration work, carried out from 1991 to 1997, fully renovated the house, built in the late 16th century, one of the most beautiful buildings of Les Baux de Provence. Opened in 1991, the Yves Brayer Museum gathers hundreds of oils, watercolors and drawings that give an overview of the work of the artist, one of the most famous contemporary French painters. In addition to his landscapes, Brayer painted large canvases of compositions, figures ; he was interested in all the techniques available to a fertile artist.
