The museum contains a collection of illustrations in the form of drawings and prints related to Petrarch, Laure, Avignon and the Fountain of Vaucluse as well as a fund comprising antique editions of works by Petrarch as well as French and Italian Petrarchists, completed by a specialized library. The muesographical intention bears on the birth and development of the literary myth through the recreation of the Fountain of Vaucluse's inspirational character. The presentation of the collections expresses the profound nature of Petrarchism: human experience and the allegory of love, the spirituality of a budding humanism. A small collection of modern art perpetuates the esthetic and sentimental ties demonstrated by certain artists for the site. Built around the writings of René Char, it brings together works by Braque, Giacometti, Szenes, Vieira da Silva, Mirò, Zao Wou-Ki, Picasso, Wilfredo Lam, Sima...
